Represent a combined 345
years of continuous service
An impressive 345 years of
service were recognized this fall during the Northeastern Junior College
in-service programming which was held in mid-August as the college opened up a
new school year on campus. Employees were honored for various years of
continuous service in a permanent position. College President Jay Lee, who was
experiencing his first in-service at NJC, congratulated the employees and
presented the awards.
Elaine Jones, a payroll
accounting technician received a standing ovation for her 35-year award. Linda
Sears, a custodian in the physical plant was applauded and appreciated for 30
years of continuous service. Both of these employees have worked in a variety of
areas on campus, but have always been with the same department.
Twenty-five year awards went to
business professor Ronda Monheiser, financial aid director Alice Weingardt and
vice-president of finance and administrative service Brenda Lauer.
The lone recipient of a 20 year
award was Dan Kelley who is a plumber with the college’s physical plant.
The largest category this year
was the 15 year awards and the line-up included agronomy/agriculture professor
Mike Brownell, IT department director Cherie Brungardt, professor Maret Felzien,
Vice President of Academics Stanton Gartin, Executive Assistant to the President
Shawn Rose, Custodial Supervisor Geneva Skeels, Emergency Medical
Services/Fire Training Coordinator Tracy Yahn and Brenda Zink, a science
professor who also chairs the Health, Science and Math Division.
Ten year awards went to John
Helfer, science specialist for the Comprehensive Learning Center, Layton
Peterman, automotive technology professor and program director, Bryan Shepherd,
head men’s baseball coach and associate physical education professor and Scott
Thompson, department chair for liberal arts and professor of
psychology..
Five years awards went to Cole
Briggs, coordinator and professor for the equine management program, Derek
Herbert, director of institution research and planning, Amanda Kerker, business
professor, Beth Kilmer, instructional specialist in business and Doug Werner, a
carpenter in the college’s physical plant.
