Sterling Public Library Hosting South Platte River Renaissance Program April 22

Sterling Public Library will be hosting Tom Noel as he provides his program “South Platte River Renaissance” on April 22 at 7:00 p.m. Dr. Colorado will take you on a slide show looking at river revitalization from its South Park Headwaters to the celebratory Rainbow Arch Bridge in Ft. Morgan.

Tom Noel is a history professor at the University of Colorado Denver. Tom completed his M.A. and Ph.D. at CU-Boulder where his mother (a psychiatrist) and grandmother (a teacher) also did their graduate work.

He is also the author or co-author of 40 books and has written many columns for the Denver Post. He has written books about Denver landmarks, and saloons, buildings of Colorado, Colorado history and much more. He also appears on Channel 9 regularly as Dr. Colorado. Mr. Noel does numerous historical tours in Denver. He specializes in railroad, saloon and church tours to name a few. Mr. Noel experience is extensive. He has been Professor of History since 1990 and chair from 1992 – 1996. He has been a tour leader for Smithsonian Institution’s week long “Railroading the Rockies”. Mr. Noel has had part time jobs as a paperboy, bus boy, soda jerk, pool hall attendant, library page, due ranch roustabout and collections and photo librarian.
