Background: As a company whose only focus is agriculture, Monsanto is committed to developing new products and technologies that help farmers be successful. The MTU visits rural communities, agricultural trade shows and other special events across the country, providing guests with a firsthand look at how Monsanto is applying advanced science to help farmers be more profitable and create new market opportunities for their crops.
This one of a kind, hands-on exhibit highlights how:
• Monsanto is committed to sustainable agriculture and its goal to double corn, soybean and cotton yields by the year 2030, while also conserving key resources by one-third.
• The company’s plant breeding and trait technology developments add value to farmers and end users, such as ethanol yield, healthier foods and improved stress tolerance.
• Monsanto seed breeders use "exotic" seed germplasm from around the world to develop new, high-performing crops for U.S. farmers.
• Enhanced molecular breeding tools can greatly increase the chances of finding an ideal combination of "high-yield" genes – one in five, compared to two in one trillion using conventional breeding.
• Various career opportunities are available in the agriculture industry.
Media: Media are invited to tour the MTU and speak with Monsanto Ag Educators.
