Master Chorale Spring Concert May 1

The Master Chorale, with 47 members, will be starting their 20th year as a Chorale that has brought you music from Broadway to classical, gospel, popular and beyond.

The “Spring Concert XX” will be performed by the Master Chorale under the direction of Don Johnson at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 1, 2011 at the Dorothy Corsberg Theater, Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, CO.

The first half is all about Love. The concert will open with “Flower of Beauty” and continue with “I Love My Love,” “I Dream a World” highlighting the Women of the Chorale with Tiffany Roberts, Conductor, “Down In The Valley” performed by the Men of the Chorale, “Annabel Lee,” Clark Scriven, soloist and Sam Edgar, violin obbligato, “If Music Be The Food of Love” with Sam Edgar, violin and Phil Found, cello and close with “The Mansions of the Lord.”

The second half will consist of John Rutter’s “REQUIEM.” The seven parts of the music are:
“Requiem Aeternam” prayer to God on behalf of humanity, “Out of the Deep” starts in despair, ends in trust, “Pie Jesu” personal prayer to Christ, Chris Penner, soloist, “Sanctus” affirmation of divine glory, “Agnus Dei” personal prayer to Christ, “The Lord is my Shepherd” Psalm 23, and closing with “Lux Aeterna” prayer, Annette Bowin, soloist.

Accompanying the Chorale on “Requiem” will be Elsie Fetzer, organ, Jamie Wheelock, flute, Janelle Lambrecht, soprano saxophone, Sam Edgar, violin, Phil Found, cello, Jenna Hunt, harp, Rebecca Hykin, glockenspiel and Lee Lippstrew, timpani.

Tickets for the performance are $7.00 and may be purchased at KC’s Music & Electronics, Key Bank, Country Gardens, Master Chorale members, Larry at 522-1015, Rita at 522-5427, or at the door the day of the performance. Students under 12 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
