As is the custom each spring, Northeastern Junior College will be honoring its retirees at the end of April. A retirement reception will be held on Thursday, April 28th from 3 to 5 p.m. Honorees this year include Judy Giacomini, Kelley Jackson, Alvin Richhart, Kendra Stromberg and Kent Wright. The event will be held on the main campus in Room 230, located in the upstairs of Hays Student Center.
The five honorees for 2011 collectively represent more than 100 years of service to NJC. Giacomini held a number of positions on campus over the years but most notably, served as the director of counseling, interim president and ended her career at the college at the Vice President of Student Services. Jackson worked for many years in the college’s bookstore, providing great service to the students and staff. Richhart, who completed the horticulture program as a non-traditional student, has been part of the physical plant’s grounds crew in recent years. Stromberg worked in the college’s computer center and as an information technology technician and most recently operated the campus help desk for students, faculty and staff needing computer-related assistance. Kent Wright was the director of the college’s automotive technology programs for many years and was most recently named chairman of the college’s transportation and energy program, a division created with the development of the new wind technology training.
During the reception, each retiree will be individually honored. Refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.
