NJC Student Art Show Winners Announced

During the 2011 end of year Student Art Exhibit on display now at Northeastern Junior College, a wonderful array of artwork, representing an equally diverse variety of mediums, provides an exceptional show—being declared the “best ever” by some of the more prominent art critiques in northeastern Colorado. During a reception held this past week, winners in seven categories were recognized.

Theresa Conklin of Haxtun had the entry selected as the Best of Show with her oil on canvas painting entitled “Regrets Healed.” The painting features classmate Shawn Unrein posing for the portrait. There were several entries in the show that were done by one student while another one posed or worked from photography of a live subject. Conklin also had the top two entries in the ceramics category.

Drawing: 1st Mandy Wesley, “Hanna Study”; 2nd Ryan Helfer, “Burning Candles”; 3rd Mandy Wesley, “Love”; Honorable Mention Sarah Hoschauer, “Just Me”.

3D Design: 1st Alex Archer, “Clock Work”; 2nd Mandy Wesley, “Through Head Space”; 3rd Patricia Richmond, “Holepunch”; Honorable Mention Patricia Richmond, “Jack”.

Ceramics: 1st Theresa Conklin, “Whisper”; 2nd Theresa Conklin, “Out of Chaos”; 3rd Dylan Radford, “Untitled” bowls; Honorable Mention Hanna Deter-Hendry, “Rolling for Aspect”.
