***NJC Press Release***
The popular Kids College classes are up and running at Northeastern Junior College. While many of them filled quickly, there are still openings in several classes. The Focus on the Artist class for students in grades third, fourth, fifth and sixth is designed to allow students to learn about various famous artists and styles.
With instructor Mark Appelhans, students in this class will explore the works of a new master artist each day and will complete artworks in the style of the artist. This class offers two different sessions, which are designed to build upon one another. Focus on the Artist I will be held Monday June 27th through Thursday, June 30 and Focus on the Artist II will be held Tuesday, July 5th through Friday, July 8th. These classes are held from 1 to 3 p.m. each day. The cost of the class, which includes all materials, is $30 per session. Students who attend both sessions will learn about eight different artists. Children will be bringing home their artistic creations.
A Vet Science class for grades sixth through eighth will be offered Tuesday, July 5 through Friday, July 8th from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. each day. IN this class, taught by Megan Jedlicka, students will learn about mammals. Students will learn specifics about humans, dogs, pigs, cows, and other mammals, specifically learning how animals function differently than humans. Students will learn about the inner workings of the heart, stomach, and reproductive tract of various animals and compare them to humans. This program is made possible through a partnership with Colorado State University’s Extension Service.
If you want your child to attend these classes, please sign them up as soon as possible, preferably by June 20th.
To register for Kids College classes, you must do it in person and you must pay the registration fee at the time you enroll your child.
