The first annual Logan County Climb For Kids will be held Saturday, September 7th at 10am at the Logan County Fairgrounds.
The idea of the event is for all participants to climb as many floors as they can in one hour, and that is to honor all that were lost in the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks. Along with that, any and all participants, as well as the Sterling Fire Department, will be collecting donations prior to the event to go to two children’s charities.
The charities that have been chosen are Make-A-Wish Foundation (http://www.colorado.wish.org/) and Tuesday’s Children (http://www.tuesdayschildren.org/). Make-A-Wish Foundation is very well known, but Tuesday’s Children is not a familiar name in this area. It was formed after the 9/11 attacks for the children who their parents were taken from them. It is a foundation that is used to keep the children together and provide activities for them to escape the horrors that they experienced that day. In a sense, Tuesday’s Children has become a support system for these kids.
Be on the lookout around the Sterling area for Sterling Fire Department members taking donations. Donations are also being accepted at the Sterling Fire Department. Cash or checks accepted, make checks payable to Sterling Volunteer Firefighters.
