***Press Release***
The
Colorado Community College System holds monthly state board meetings in Denver,
which include attendance by the presidents from all 13 colleges state-wide.
During these meetings, selected colleges are invited to showcase their
outstanding programs, students and faculty. In May, Northeastern President Dr.
Jay Lee chose to recognize Brenda Zink as an outstanding faculty member from
Northeastern Junior College. Zink chairs Northeastern’s Health, Science and Math
Division where she oversees the activities of all faculty teaching in these
areas and also provides in-class instruction in biology, microbiology and other
highly specialized curriculum. One of the most popular teachers on campus, Zink
is known for utilizing a number of innovative techniques to engage her students
in the classroom as well as the lab, namely using “clickers” that allow students
to digitally respond to questions in the middle of lectures and test reviews.
Zink is considered one of the best team players on campus when it comes to
helping with various committees, campus events, assessment activities and
community outreach.
