Fort Morgan, CO.
08/29/13. Morgan Community College (MCC) is back in full swing with fall
semester and many students are taking advantage of new financial aid
initiatives.
“We want to make
sure Morgan Community College is affordable for every student in our eastern
Colorado service area,” says MCC President Dr. Kerry Hart. “MCC has over 50
programs of study and we serve students throughout 11,500 square miles in
eastern Colorado at five different locations. MCC is in an ideal position to
ensure accessibility and affordability.”
“College is a
very important step in anyone’s life. And for me it is more than a step, it’s a
landmark—I am the first one in my family to go to college,” declares Chelbi
Contreraz, 2013 Goetz Family Scholarship recipient.
The award, administered through the MCC Foundation, will
cover tuition for two semesters and includes her books and
personal expenses. “This scholarship means more than words can
express.”
“MCC Foundation
has received a matching challenge of $30,000 for any new or increased gifts
designated for scholarships,” says MCC Foundation Coordinator Kelly Rasmussen.
“This challenge will allow donors to double their impact on the lives of
students at MCC.”
The match is
made possible through the generous donations of the Courtenay C. and Lucy Patten
Davis Foundation, as well as the Helen K. and Arthur E. Johnson Foundation. The
matching funds will be available for students next year, in the 2014-15 school
year.
The work of the
Foundation touches hundreds of lives each year through student scholarships,
capital projects, and special initiatives that help to keep the quality of
programs strong, while preserving and growing MCC for future
generations.
