At its Fall Semester 2013
Faculty and Staff In-Service, Northeastern Junior College recognized a number of
employees for having completed milestones in number of years served on the
campus. Northeastern President Dr. Jay Lee handed out engraved awards to those
honored.
Receiving five year
service awards were Maria Fernandez, Steve
Soza, Nate Kelley, Harv Rober and Taya McAdow. Fernandez is a custodian on
campus. Soza is the assistant men’s basketball coach and an assistant manager in
the Bank of Colorado Event Center. Kelley oversees sports medicine for athletics
and also is a faculty member teaching classes in the health education and sports
medicine areas. Harv Rober is an assistant professor in the diesel mechanics
department and Taya McAdow is the women’s rodeo coach and a member of the
agriculture faculty where she teaches equine related
classes.
Receiving ten year service
awards were Misti Pierce, Cindy Carey, Gail LaForce and Kevin Stump. Pierce is
the director of academic support services and assessment. Carey is a counselor
in student services. Gail LaForce is the executive director of the Northeastern
Junior College Foundation. Kevin Stump is a math professor.
Receiving 15 year service
awards were Barbara Baker, Rick Skeels, Jesse Moreno, Connie Humphreys and Julie
Brower. Baker is director of marketing services. Skeels oversees the grounds on
campus as part of the physical plant staff. Jesse Moreno is a custodian,
primarily serving Phillips Whyman Hall. Dr. Connie Humphreys is a professor in
the liberal arts area and Julie Brower is the director of nursing programs.
The only individual
receiving a 20 year award in 2013 was Dr. Shelby Nichols, professor of
chemistry.
Receiving 25 year awards
were Wendy Zimmerman, Pam Berns and Ronda Bowey. Zimmerman is an administrative
assistant in the student services area. Pam Berns is a professor in the liberal
arts area, teaching many classes for that department. Ronda Bowey has long been
the director of the Extended Studies department on campus but was recently moved
to student services where she will assist with counseling and student success.
These honored employees
represent a total of 235 years of dedicated employee service to the students who
have chosen Northeastern since 1988.
