The City of Fort Morgan will hold its annual “Blue Santa” Holiday Donation Drive on Saturday, Dec. 7.
“Blue Santa” is a volunteer program originally started by the Fort Morgan Police Department that has been expanded to include other city employees this year. The program is intended to benefit the less fortunate adults, senior citizens and disabled members of the community who may be forgotten during the holiday season.
The drive aims to collect and distribute non-perishable food items and toiletries (toothpaste, toilet paper, shampoo, lotion, soap, etc.) as well as stocking caps, gloves, scarves, socks, lap blankets and other helpful items. Cash donations are also accepted, and will be used by city volunteers for shop for more of the items listed here.
FMPD officers and other city volunteers will be collecting donations at both Walmart and Safeway from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7. Blue Santa volunteers will also be collecting donations at City Park on Dec. 7 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. in conjunction with the annual Christmas Parade on Main Street and the ribbon-cutting for the Dahms-Talton Bandshell.
Residents are encouraged to participate by bringing donations to any of these locations on Dec. 7. For those who wish to drop off their donations earlier, additional donations boxes will be placed at Historic City Hall (110 Main St.), the city Utility Billing office (710 E. Railroad Ave.), the Armory Recreation Center (528 State St.) and the Fort Morgan Public Library (414 Main St.).
