Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center has joined #GivingTuesday, a
first of its kind effort that will harness the collective power of a unique
blend of partners—charities, families, businesses and individuals—to transform
how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.
Coinciding with the Thanksgiving Holiday and the kickoff of the holiday
shopping season, #GivingTuesday will inspire people to take collaborative
action to improve their local communities, give back in better, smarter ways to
the charities and causes their support and help create a better world.
Taking place December 3, 2013 – the Tuesday after
Thanksgiving – #GivingTuesday will harness the power of social media to create
a national moment around the holidays dedicated to giving, similar to how Black
Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are, today, synonymous with
holiday shopping.
Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center partnered with #GivingTuesday
to bring awareness to the community regarding the senior population and their
overall safety and wellfare. The holiday
season holds special memories for many of the neighbors who reside at Eben Ezer
and yet for many it is also a lonely time of year. A trend has taken place in our society which
places emphasis on the retail and commercial celebration of the holiday
season. This year Eben Ezer has
partnered with #GivingTuesday to demonstrate how the world can do much more
with ourselves than just consume.
Now, Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center is asking the community
to give consideration to the aging population by giving back Tuesday-December 3rd. The community is encouraged to participate in
#GivingTuesday through a number of ways.
First and foremost, stop by December 3rd for a visit with the
folks now residing within Eben Ezer’s walls.
The value of an unexpected visit should not be underestimated and it
will only take a moment of your time. While
there, sign up to volunteer as a Guardian Angel. Guardian Angel volunteers will be assigned to
one neighbor who could greatly benefit from a much needed friendship. As a Guardian Angel volunteer the comitment
of one hour a month to visit, share, and live life together is the greatest gift
anyone could give!
Lastly, just as important as the emotional wellbeing of Eben
Ezer neighbors is their physical safety.
Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center has become increasingly aware of the need
for a fully implemented security system throughout the facility. Such a system would enable the organization
to better manage small potential concerns all the way thru the imminent need of
a campus lock down. However, the
implementation of a quality system runs upwards of $100,000. As part of #GivingTuesday Eben Ezer is
holding a donation drive Tuesday - December 3rd to raise funds
toward the purchase ofa security system for all those who live and work within
the organization.
