4th Annual Morgan County Sneaker Stroll September 28

The 4th Annual Morgan County Sneaker Stroll, benefiting the JDRF, the largest charitable funder of Type 1 Diabetes Research, will be held Sunday, September 28 at Memorial Park in Brush. Registration starts at 11am, bbq at 12pm, and the walk starts at 1pm. To register for the event, or to make an online donation visit www.jdrf.org/teamjdrf. Register and raise $25 in donations to earn a Morgan County Sneaker Stroll T-Shirt. 2014 Brush Customer Appreciation Free BBQ & Chris King Band July 22

The 2014 Brush Customer Appreciation Free BBQ will be held Tuesday, July 22 at the Brush Library Park at the East Morgan County Library. The meal will be served from 5:30-7pm, and the Chris King Band will be in concert from 6:30-8:30pm. For questions about the BBQ, or if your business would like to participate, please contact Ron or Melody at the Brush Chamber at 842-2666. Businesses need to be signed up by July 15.

60th Annual Brush Rodeo July 2-4

The 60th Annual Brush Rodeo will be held July 2, 3, and 4 at the Morgan County Fairgrounds in Brush. Performance times are 7pm daily with admission $10 for adults and 12 and under $5. There are events scheduled each day, including a free barbecue at 5pm on July 2, concert starting at 4:30pm on July 3, and parade starting at 10am on July 4.

Weird Animals VBS at Rankin Presbyterian Church in Brush starting June 2

A summer kids' event called "Weird Animals VBS" will be hosted at Rankin Presbyterian Church, 420 Clayton Street in Brush, from June 2nd through June 6th.

At Weird Animals, kids will learn about some of God's most creative creations. They'll participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, make and dig into yummy treats, experience cool Bible adventures, collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind that they are one of a kind, and test out Sciency-Fun Gizmos they'll take home and play with all summer long. Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called "God Sightings."

Each day concludes with the Tail End...a celebration that gets everyone involved in living what they've learned. Family members and friends are encouraged to join in daily for this special time at 7:45pm.

Kids at Weird Animals VBS will join an international mission effort to share God's love by providing water for school children in India.

Weird Animals VBS is for kids from 4 years to 12 years old and will run from 5:30pm with a light supper to 8pm each day.

Flag Retirement Ceremony June 14 in Brush

The VFW and American Legion will be holding a flag retirement ceremony on Flag Day, June 14th, at the Brush Fire Department. If you have a worn and tattered flag that you need to discard, please bring them to the Brush Chamber of Commerce who will ensure they are delivered to a VFW or American Legion member to be disposed of properly. Brush Area Chamber, 218 Clayton St., 970-842-2666

2014 Brush Downtown Spring Cleanup Saturday, May 10

The annual downtown Brush spring cleanup will be held Saturday, May 10 from 9-11:30am. There will be teams of volunteers on the 100, 200, and 300 blocks of downtown, also alley ways. The fire department will also be washing down Clayton, Edison and Edmunds that morning. For more information or to volunteer to help call the Brush Chamber at 970-842-2666.

Hertneky Vision Source Sight From the Heart May 16

Hertneky Vision Source is holding their 5th annual Sight From The Heart on Friday, May 16 from 8am-5pm at Hertneky Vision Souce, 212 Cameron Street in Brush. This event is to help those in need who do not have the means to afford an eye health exam or glasses and do not have any health or vision insurance coverage. You must be 21 or over to qualify, as those under the age of 21 typically are eligible for assistance. The staff at Hertneky Vision Source will be donating one day's worth of free eye exams to the public. This includes free single vision or lined bifocal lenses with basic scratch coating and frames.

The School for the Performing Arts in Fort Morgan will be presenting a music concert on Sunday, May 4th at 3pm at the Rankin Presbyterian Church, 420 Clayton Street, in Brush. An ice cream social will follow the concert.

The 2014 Brush Chamber Ag Appreciation Dinner will be held Friday, March 14 at Brush High School. Social begins at 5:30pm, meal at 6:30pm, and the program begins at 7:30pm. Chuck Larsen, cowboy poet, humorist, and storyteller will provide the entertainment. Free tickets are available from any sponsoring business, or at the Brush Chamber office.

Brush FFA Oyster Fry & Member Auction March 1

The Brush FFA Oyster Fry & Member Auction will be held March 1 in the Brush High School Commons. Dinner runs from 5-7pm with the auction starting at 7:15pm. Tickets are $10 per person and children under 3 are free. Tickets can be purchased from any Brush FFA member or at the door. Brush Chamber Luncheon Feb 12

The Brush Area Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon will be held on Wednesday, February 12 from 12-1pm at Bunker Hill Country Club in Brush. Cost for the meal is $11. The guest speaker will be Dr. Michelle Johnstone, Superintendent of Brush School District. She will be discussing the current budget cuts issue. Anyone is welcome to attend, but please RSVP to the Brush Chamber at 842-2666 to make sure there are enough meals for everyone. Catering will be provided by Peter Cisneros and the EMCH Culinary Staff.

Rankin Presbyterian Church in Brush will be hosting a Valentine's Spaghetti Dinner on February 16th from 5:30pm to 7pm at the church, 420 Clayton Street in Brush. Admission is $6 for adults & $3 for children with all proceeds being split between the "Blessings In A Backpack" program and the "Save Our Sands" drive. The 9th annual St. Patrick's Day walk/run will be held on Saturday, March 15th in Brush. They will also be hosting a corned beef and cabbage lunch after the race, followed by a one-pitch softball tournament at the Joslin-Needham softball complex. Food Bank of the Rockies Dates for the Morgan County Fairgrounds

The Food Bank of the Rockies mobile pantry truck will be at the Morgan County Fairgrounds in Brush, January 22, February 26, March 26, April 30, May 28, June 25, August 27, September 24, October 22, November 26, and December 24 from 10am-12pm providing food assistance to community members. There are no qualifications, membership fees, or eligibility forms to complete. Product is distributed on a first come, first served basis. Brush Fire Chili Supper for "Save Our Sands Theatre" Drive February 1

On February 1st at 6pm Brush Fire will be hosting a chili supper downtown in front of Sands Theatre. All money raised will be donated to the Save Our Sands Theatre Drive. Tickets will be $15 for dinner and a movie or $10 just for dinner. Tickets will be available for purchase from the local banks or the Brush Chamber of Commerce.
