Planning begins for Logan County Shooting Sports Complex

***Press Release***

Logan County Commissioners Working with Local Shooting Enthusiasts.

Sterling, CO, March 18, 2014: After more than five years and countless hours and effort, a

place for local shooting enthusiasts is becoming a reality. Work on the Logan County Shooting Sports

Complex (LCSSC) is moving forward. Thanks to the Logan County Commissioners for acquiring a

location, the City of Sterling for providing right-of-way access and to local shooting enthusiasts for the

research and effort to coordinate several government entities. Thanks to the Colorado Department of

Corrections, Colorado State Land Board and Colorado Department of Transportation for their

cooperation to help make this endeavor happen.

A matching-funds grant application will be presented to the Colorado Parks & Wildlife by Logan

County to request funds for the design, engineering and improvements to the 260 acre complex. The

Northeast Colorado Sportsmen’s Association (formerly Northeast Fish & Game Club) may contribute

assets as a portion of the matching funds for the grant request.

Members of the Red Hill Gun Club, representing rifle and handgun sports, are working with

members of the Northeast Colorado Sportsmen’s Association, representing shotgun sports, to develop

short- and long-term planning for the Complex. The working group has outlined suggested plans for

the trapshooting and rifle ranges to be included in the first phase; long-term plans may include sporting

clays, skeet, cowboy action shooting, archery, paintball, air soft, disc golf and a community building.

Members of these shooting disciplines are needed to contribute their expertise to the long-term

planning. If interested, email LoganCoSSC@gmail.com, for meeting dates and location.
