Due to construction on West Main Street (Highway 14) the City of Sterling wishes to advise citizens to expect delays and some difficulties exiting the area of the fireworks display on July 4. The City is providing motorists the traffic control plan for those leaving the area of the fireworks display so you can make plans and prepare ahead of time.
Pioneer Park
There will be only one exit to the park and those exiting the park will be required to make a right hand turn and travel west (out of town). Please use County Road 33 (or County Road 35) to detour around Highway 14 back into Sterling. The City of Sterling encourages spectators in and around the park to stay and enjoy the music provided after the show by the Eldorado Band. Approximately one hour after the end of the fireworks show those in the park will be permitted to make a left hand turn (east) and come directly back into Sterling.
Pioneer Park Ballfields
Motorists in the Pioneer Park ball fields will be required to exit onto Ballpark Road (County Road 37) and head north. Those motorists may use either Platte Street or County Road 30 to come back into Sterling.
Home Depot/Wal-Mart Parking Lots
Motorists leaving Home Depot or Wal-Mart may exit at the Wal-Mart traffic light and come back into Sterling on West Main Street. Motorist may also exit from Home Depot (west exits) and head north on Ballpark Road and use either Platte Street or County Road 30.
First Christian Church/Masonic Temple Area
Access to Highway 14 will be blocked; motorists may use County Road 37 to Iris Drive to come back into Sterling
The City of Sterling apologizes for any inconvenience and appreciate everyone's understanding during the construction project.
