RE-1 Valley Schools statement on possible threat for November 8

November 7 concern about Sterling High School: There was a rumor that a possible threat existed at SHS for November 8. The Sterling Police Department has investigated, and report that there is no reason for alarm. Thank you to the community for having all ears and eyes alert. This immediate response keeps our students safe.

RE-1 Valley School District to Test Reunification Plan

On Wednesday, September 19, 2012, RE-1 Valley School District will test the Reunification portion of its Safety Response Plan with several area emergency response agencies in a Reunification Exercise scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Community members may see personnel and vehicles from Sterling Fire Department, Sterling Police Department/Ambulance, Sterling Correctional Facility, Office of Emergency Management, Northeast Colorado Health Department or Logan County Sheriff’s Office in the area of Sterling Middle School and Sterling High School.

Due to the Reunification Exercise, there will be no school for Sterling Middle School students on September 19, 2012; all other District buildings will be open with normal operating hours.

Parents are reminded to keep their child’s emergency contact information current and that, in the event of an actual Reunification, a photo ID will be required for the authorized individual(s) to pick up any student. Information is on the District’s website about what to expect in an actual situation if a school, or all the schools in the District, find it necessary to release students outside normal school hours.

RE-1 Valley Foundation To Hold Fundraising Events

On April 28th RE-1 Valley Foundation has partnered with Fox 5 for a special showing at 1:00 of “The Pirates! Band of Misfits”  Ticket prices are $6.00.  Movie patrons who watch this move on Saturday April 28th at 1:00 will be supporting RE-1 Valley Foundation and their efforts to enhance the educational experiences of students in the RE-1 Valley School District.  A portion of the proceeds from this showing will be donated to RE-1 Valley Foundation.

 

On May 19th RE-1 Valley Foundation will be hosting a 5K Run for Fund$.  This event starts at 7:30 am at the Sterling High School Track.  Registration fee which includes a shirt is $25.00.  Registration forms can be printed from our website (www.re1valleyfoundation.org) on the left side of the screen.  

RE1 Valley Schools to present "The King And I" April 26-28

The Rogers and Hammerstein classic "The King And I" will be held at the Sterling High School Auditorium April 26-28.  The curtain will open each evening at 7pm on a production that involves more than 100 students from all RE1 Valley Schools.  Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door or in advance by contacting Don Johnson at 522-2944.  Tickets may also be ordered through cast members.
