Per Riverside cemetery regulations, the placing of artificial flowers, decorations, and other objects for specific holidays, birthdays and other special occasions may be allowed to be placed one (1) day before and one (1) day after. If the decorations are not removed within, the time frame allowed the artificial flowers/decorations would be removed and disposed of by cemetery staff. Artificial flowers in approved vases, which are permanently attached to the monument, are permitted year-round and will not be collected.

Artificial Flowers and Decorations at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling Need to be Removed By March 3

Per Riverside Cemetery
regulations, the placing of artificial flowers, decorations, and other objects
is permitted only from November 1 through March 1 and for a period beginning
one week prior to Memorial Day and ending one week after Memorial Day. In compliance with these regulations, the
cemetery crew will remove and discard artificial flowers, potted flowers,
decorations and other objects on March 3.
Anyone wishing to recover artificial flowers, or other
decorations, that they have placed in the cemetery, should do so by March 3. Artificial flowers in approved
vases, which are permanently attached to the monument, are permitted year-round
and will not be collected.

Flowers and Decorations at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling
Per Riverside Cemetery regulations, the placing of artificial flowers and other decorations on plots is permitted beginning one week prior to Memorial Day and ending one week after Memorial Day. In compliance with these regulations, the cemetery crew will begin removing all artificial flowers, potted plants, or other temporary decorations on June 10. Anyone wishing to save these items should pick them up prior to that date.
Cultivation of live plantings is permitted only within 18 inches of the headstone in an area directly in front of the headstone, but not to the sides or back of the headstone. Trees, shrubs, or flowers that are improperly planted will be removed by the cemetery staff. All visitors are encouraged to obtain a copy of the rules before planting or decorating a grave.
Complete copies of cemetery rules are available at Riverside Cemetery and at the Parks, Library, and Recreation Office in City Hall at 421 N. 4th Street. Rules are also available at www.sterlingcolo.com.
