NJC Prospect Show Accepting Entries

***NJC Press Release**

Event takes place on Sunday, April 17th

Sterling, CO--The Northeastern Junior College Aggies will host their annual Prospect Show at the Logan County Fairgrounds in Sterling, CO on Sunday, April 17th. This show is open to the public and will include classes in cattle, hogs, sheep and goats. The champion premiums have been increased in 2011.

The show is designed to allow those involved in livestock showing, ages 5 to 21, to get a jump start on their upcoming summer competition. Prospective lambs, hogs, goats, steers and heifers will be shown in the ring to be judged, giving competitors an idea of how they stand up against area competition early in the season. Most of the entries will be finished out and shown in area county and state fairs later this year. Those participating in the show pay a small entry fee and premiums are paid back out to top placings for the day. The event also includes showmanship competition.

The event will take place in both the indoor and outdoor show rings onsite. Weigh in for animals begins at 6 a.m. with hogs, 7:30 a.m. with cattle and 9 a.m. with sheet and goats. The actual show will begin at 10 a.m. with swine competing first, followed by beef, sheep and goats starting at 11:30 a.m.

Spectators are welcome to come and watch the show, free of charge. For information about entries, call show coordinator Larry Pollart at (970) 521-6640 or visit www.njc.edu and type “prospect show” in the site’s search feature on the upper right hand corner and open the links that are provided.
