Sterling
Public Library will be featuring Eric Carle during our programs the week of
June 25th. Mr. Carle is a
well known children’s author and illustrator who has illustrated over 70 books
and authored many of those. His most
popular book is the Very Hungry Caterpillar.
During our Monday program on June 25th at 2:00 p.m. the kids
will hear Eric Carle’s stories, learn about his life and finger paint.
On
Tuesday, June 26th 10 to 15 year olds will explore the art of tissue
paper. Beautiful artwork can be done
with tissue paper and the group will learn how to complete a project. Kids
must register for this program and may do so by coming in or calling the
library at 522-2023.
Tuesday,
June 26th at 7:00 p.m. the library will host a very special young
lady, Meghan Casey and her puppet Aidan.
Meghan, now in her teens has been a performing ventriloquist since age
6. One of her favorite puppets, Aidan is
a dinosaur who loves marshmallows.
Meghan’s 2012 show theme is DREAM
BIG, a performance with colorful and lively characters leaving a dream world
and magically coming to life.
Our
Toddler group will meet on Thursday, June 28th at 10:00 a.m. They will hear stories by Eric Carle. The group will also finger paint.
Summer Reading can be great fun as you explore the
many adventures in books. It has also been shown that the use of the public
library during the summer is more predictive of vocabulary gains than attending
summer school. There is still plenty of
time to sign up for the Summer Reading Program so stop in and share the fun
found at the public library.
