Sterling Public Library is
providing another opportunity to discuss Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand on Oct.
25th at 2:00 p.m. Unbroken is
the story of Louis Zamperini. When the
war began, the athlete became an airman, embarking on a journey that led to his
doomed flight and time in Japanese prisoner of war camps. It is a fascinating story to discuss.
Another part of the
celebration includes celebrating our veterans.
There is still time to bring in your pictures of any veteran or someone
currently serving. Pictures will be
displayed through Nov. 12, 2012.
The library is also honoring
our veterans with a lunch on November 9th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00
p.m. The program is for veterans and their
family. At noon Evelyn Harper will talk
about the book Sterling Heroes by Dr. John Elliff. She will have books available for
purchase. There will also be a scrapbook
available for viewing on World War II vets.
Please call the library at 522-2023 if you plan to attend.
The library will take you
back in time with the program What’s Happening at Home on Monday, Oct. 29th
at 7:00 p.m. Library staff, and special
guests Glenis Schmidt, Anna Mae Hagemeier and Rena Morrison will talk about
what life was like at home during the war.
There will be a sample of several foods that were popular during that
era.
