Rotary Clubs of Morgan County Duck Drop October 6

Rotary Clubs of Morgan County announce annual Rotary Duck Drop October 6^th, 2012 at 10am at the Fort Morgan Airport.

The annual Rotary Duck Drop is the main fundraiser for the Fort Morgan and Brush Rotary Clubs, which have supported projects benefiting Morgan County for over 75 years. Local Rotarians currently support local and international programs financially and in kind, such as:

·         Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, which sponsor high school and junior high students to develop and learn leadership skills during the summer

·         Wheel of the Month student recognition program, which recognizes our community’s outstanding Senior and Middle School students, who are nominated by their respective faculty.

·         Delivering meals to local seniors as part of the Meet & Eat program

·         Rotary Youth Exchange programs fostering respect and understanding between families here and abroad. Any interested high school students are invited to apply.

·         Repainting park pavilions

·         Blessings in a Backpack

·         Caring Ministries

·         Sub for Santa

·         ShelterBox, which supplies a family with a tent and essential equipment to live in while displaced or homeless due to disaster, famine, war, etc.

The Rotary clubs are interested in supporting other local projects and welcome ideas and suggestions from the community.

Internationally, Rotarians around the world have been involved for several years in the efforts to stamp out the devastating disease Polio. They have raised millions to deliver the Polio vaccine to the few remaining countries where the disease is still endemic and are now committed to provide $75 million over the next three years towards this cause. The public can contribute through a Morgan County Rotary Club or directly at www.endpolio.org.

In addition, Rotary funds projects internationally and domestically to provide clean water, improve sanitation, reduce infant mortality, provide vocational training, and promote peace.

The public is invited to come join us at the Fort Morgan Airport the day of the Duck Drop at 10am to see the ducks drop. Tickets may still be purchased from any Morgan County Rotary club member or purchased the day of the drop at the airport. Retired ducks will be available for purchase for $5 each and they will also be able to see skydivers drop and land during that time.
