The Sterling Recreation Center will be hiring approximately 15 new American Red Cross Certified Lifeguards this summer.
The Sterling Recreation Center will offer American Red Cross Lifeguard Training classes May 28-31. The 4-day class is scheduled from 9am-5pm, and 6:30-9pm. Prospective lifeguards must be present at the class all day, every day.
Prospective lifeguards must be 15 years old by May 31, have good swimming skills, and pass a swimming-pre-test before the class begins.
In order to prepare prospective lifeguards for the swimming pre-test, the Sterling Recreation Center will provide 9 free pre-test practice dates for prospective lifeguards to brush up on their skills. They will have experienced staff members help you with your front crawl, breaststroke, and other skills. The Recreation Center advises all prospects to take advantage of some or all of the practice dates, depending on your current swimming abilities. By participating in the pre-test practice dates, you will know that you are prepared for the class. 98% of those who pass the pre-test, pass the training class.
The registration deadline is Monday May 13. Registration forms and information sheets are available at the Sterling Recreation Center, 808 Elm Street in Sterling.
Please call Dennis or Kathy at the Sterling Recreation Center at 522-7882 for additional information.
