NJC Press Release
The Nursing Club at Northeastern Junior College has taken on a campus-wide service project this fall to raise awareness and money for breast cancer prevention. Specifically, the students are collecting pink Yoplait yogurt lids through December 10th. For each lid collected and mailed in, Yoplait will donate ten cents to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure cause. This local collection effort is part of the nation-wide Yoplait’s Save Lids to Save Lives® Campaign.
Nursing students are asking fellow students and community members to bring washed pink Yoplait brand lids to campus for this project. These lids may be dropped off in the designated pink boxes that are on display in the Monahan Library or may be brought to the nursing department on the second floor of Phillips-Whyman Hall, Room 214. Only pink lids can be counted.
This is the 12th annual drive that Yoplait has participated in and General Mills, the parent company of Yoplait, has increased its commitment to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure by pledging to guarantee a donation of at least $500,000 and up to a maximum of $1.6 million this year. Over these 12 years, Yoplait has donated $25 million as a result of these annual campaigns.
