City of Sterling Accepting Applications for Councilmember Ward 1 Vacancy

The City of Sterling is accepting applications for Councilmember Ward 1 vacancy.

Applications are available in the City Manager's office at City Hall, 421 North 4th Street in Sterling, or call 522-9700 and an application will be mailed.

Applications shall include:

1. Application
2. Letter of Intent
3. Resume
4. Must be received by 5pm on December 31

Any person appointed to fill a vacancy for an unexpired term in an elective office shall have the qualifications required of persons to be regularly elected.  The candidate must meet the following criteria:

1. Be a citizen of the United States of America
2. Be eighteen years of age or older on the date of election
3. Have resided in the City of Sterling for twelve (12) consecutive months and in his or her respective ward for at least 90 days immediately preceding the election or appointment
4. Be a registered elector as defined by the laws of the State of Colorado
5. Be nominated without regard to political party affiliation by petition on forms supplied by the City Clerk
6. Shall continue to reside within the boundaries of the ward in effect at the time of his or her election throughout the term of office
