Sterling Public Library 1600 Race March 24 - RSVP Due March 20
Sterling Public Library is hosting their 1600 Race on Monday, March 24th at 5pm as part of their celebration of quilts. At the end of the evening participants will have completed the top of a small quilt. Anyone who can sew a reasonably straight seam is qualified to participate. People may work in teams. Each person or team will sew 1600 inches of fabric into one quilt top. Participants need to bring their own fabric (a jelly role), sewing machine, thread, scissors, and extension cord. Participants can also cut their own strips if they prefer. Participants may bring a sack lunch as there will a break during the event. The library will provide drinks and a dessert. You will complete the quilt by putting the backing on at home. A fleece backing is suggested with no batting to keep them light weight. For more information about a 1600 race you may go to http://www.heirloomcreations.net or search 1600 race on You Tube. If you have questions you may call the library at 522-2023. Please call or stop by the library by March 20th to reserve your table. Finished quilts will be donated to the Sterling Fire Department.
