(Sterling, CO) Aug. 24th, 2012 — Firefighters are used to battling fires but each Labor Day, firefighters take on a new battle: the fight against Muscular Dystrophy. Sterling Fire Department will be among those braving the heat and Labor Day traffic to collect donations for Muscular Dystrophy Association.
“Firefighters have been Filling the Boot for more than 50 years,” said Heather Miller, Executive Director of the Northern Colorado Muscular Dystrophy Association. “Sterling Fire Department has been a great partner in fighting muscle disease.”
This year, the department will be collecting from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Sept. 1, 2 and 3rd. Locations include Wal-Mart at 1510 W. Main St. and Bomgaars at 102 N. 12thAve..
“It’s amazing how the Sterling community rallies around MDA and the fire department raise donations,” Miller said. “We have several clients in the Sterling area and the money we raise stays in Northern Colorado.”
