NJC to offer technology device classes

***Press Release***

Learn how to use that iPad or Tablet now

Technology is moving at the speed of light. With the recent development of hand held devices, you can take it with you anywhere you go. It is estimated that there are now in excess of 30 million computer tablets in use here in the United States and the number grows daily. If you are the owner of an iPAD or other version of a computer tablet and you want to learn more about how to use it, Northeastern Junior College has some classes you should sign up to take this month.
Cyndi Vandenbark, NJC’s distance learning coordinator and small business guru will is offering several classes during January specifically for those who are using these hand-held tablet devices. Bring your tablet with you to class and use it while you learn.
On Tuesday, January 22 from 12 noon to 1 p.m., use your lunch hour to come to campus to learn how to use the Pinterest and Paprika programs.
Seems that everywhere you go today you hear people making reference to Pinterest. Since its founding in 2010, the site has become the third most popular social network in the United States, according to the "2012 Digital Marketer: Benchmark and Trend Report" published by Experian Marketing Services. Pinterest is essentially a high-tech social version of a corkboard to which you can pin images and videos and share them with others around the world. Each pin is an thumbnail image that links back to the original website, making it easy to save ideas that you want to try or read at more leisure at a later date. The site contains a continuous feed of pins from your friends as well as a public feed to give you inspiration and help you discover new things. Paprika is similar to Pinterest however, it is geared toward such activities as allowing you to seamlessly sync your recipes, grocery lists, and meal plans, for example, allowing you t share them, and take them with  you everywhere.
To be in this class, which costs an affordable $15, call the Extended Studies office at NJC at 521-6900 and register by Thursday, January 17th.  Don’t delay if you want to get in on this training. Early sign up assures that classes will run as there is a minimum student enrollment number requirement to make sure this class gets offered.
In addition, Vandenbark will also offer a class showing users how to do photo emailing and editing with the iPAD/Tablet. This class, also held over the noon hour, will be on Tuesday, January 29th. Cost is also $15.00. You need to register for this class by January 24th. Call 521-6900 to sign up.
