Rundus Foundation Benefit April 21 in Sterling

The Ivan E. Rundus Foundation is sponsoring a benefit for local Organ and Vocal Students with a movie performance of "Once in a Lullaby:  The PS22 Chorus Story," to be presented at the Fox Theatre in Sterling, on Sunday afternoon, April 21, 2013, at 1:30 P.M.  Tickets may be purchased from Board Members Baxter Arnold, Carol Arnold, Larry Fetzer, Jill Fritzler, Ann Leh, Jim Leh, Kim Schlup, and Peter Youngers, for $10.00 minimum donation per ticket.  Tickets may also be obtained at the offices of Fetzer and Company, 211 Main St., Sterling, Colorado, and the Fox 5 Theatre.

The PS 22 Chorus from Staten Island became world famous after their YouTube videos went viral.  This joyous documentary from the producer-director Jonathan Kalafer follows the talented and diverse group of kids, led by energetic instructor Gregg Breinberg, as they tackle creative differences, lost voices, and homesickness, while prepping for the Concert of a lifetime:  an appearance at the 2011 Academy Awards ceremony.  Throughout, the power of music, as well as the transformative effect of an amazing teacher, shine through.

The Rundus Foundation has provided the community with high quality programs in fundraising.  Among our fundraising projects were the Augustana Lutheran Church Chamber Choir, Home Tours, Ice Cream Socials, movie premiere of The Phantom of the Opera, Art Card fundraisers, a Horsehair pottery workshop, and a spaghetti dinner.

The Foundation has also provided the community with high quality programs in music, with over 25 students receiving voice lessons and many students receiving instruction in the organ.  Many exciting and rewarding recitals have been given by these students. Several former students have received college music scholarships.  We have employed such talented teachers in voice as Amy Gandee, Pam O'Neal, Stephanie Myre, and Annette Lambrecht.  We have also employed outstanding organists, including Elsie Fetzer and Bea Sack.

The Foundation Board asks the people of northeastern Colorado to help support our young, talented musicians, by attending this outstanding musical performance.
