In
a recent survey of over 12,000 schools, Northeastern Junior College (NJC) has
been named a Military Friendly School by Victory Media, a veteran-owned business
and publisher of GI Jobs and Guide to the Military. This honor
places NJC in the top 15% of schools nationwide.
Headquartered
in Coraopolis, PA, Victory Media develops various communications materials each
year, including a directory that is accessed by thousands of veterans and active
military each year. Northeastern has strived to help veterans return to school
and as recent as 2013, had a summer accelerated wind training institute which
had special features that would allow a military veteran, especially one who had
already received extensive training in electricity, to go through the five week
program and be job ready in the wind farm industry. This program was funded with
Department of Local Affairs and was a joint effort between Northeastern and the
Colorado Work Force Center.
The
2014 Military Friendly Schools list honors the colleges, universities and trade
schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace America’s military
service members, veterans, and spouses as students and ensure their advanced
education success.
