Northeastern Junior College’s Extended Studies Department will offer a basic Microsoft desktop publishing class utilizing the Publisher program. This basic-know how classes will be held on Thursday evenings, beginning September 9th and meet for four weeks, through September 30th. The class will meet from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each night.
Publisher is an extremely friendly desktop publishing software that is part of the Microsoft Office package. It gives the user all kinds of options to create and communicate in print. Once you have the basic know how in the program, you can easily create everything from greeting cards and brochures to fliers and multi-page documents. Many companies use Publisher to create their newsletters.
In this beginner class, taught by Barbara Baker, you’ll learn all of the basic tools of the program, how you use them, how to set up initial documents, how to get a working file built to make your own newsletters, ads, brochures, posters, banners, business cards and fun correspondence. Those in the class will learn how to find, insert and modify clip art and photos and how to manipulate text with the fun aspects of WordArt. This class will also provide some very basic rules of good graphic design.
Cost of the class is $66.11 or $42.04 for Prime Time Learners age 60 and over. Those who want to take the class need to pre-register by Tuesday, September 7th. Call Jessica Fritzler at 521-6900 to sign up and get information regarding room location.
