Akron High School will host their annual Veteran's Day program at 10am on Monday, November 11 at Akron High School, 600 Elm Ave. If you are currently, or have served in our nation's military please be arrive at 9:30am to sign in. Veterans will be served a free lunch following the ceremony.

Sterling Public Library Honoring Veterans November 8

Sterling Public Library will be honoring all veterans on November 8 with a ham and bean lunch from 11:30am to 1pm. The program is for veterans and their family. During the lunch the library will play a video on the Honor Flight-Northern Colorado that took place last spring. Members of the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will help serve the lunch.

Pancake Dinner November 9 in Sterling
American Legion Post 20, 1602 US 6 in Sterling, will be holding their Annual Pancake Dinner Saturday, November 9 from 6-8pm. All proceeds/donations go directly to helping support local veterans. For information or questions call 970-522-5688.

Veteran's Day Tribute at Fort Morgan Senior Center November 8

The Fort Morgan Senior Center will host a Veterans Day patriotic tribute for all veterans and their families on Friday afternoon, November 8. Students from Trinity Lutheran School will perform at 1:30pm. Refreshments will be served following the entertainment. This is a free program, but participants are asked to call (970) 542-3922 or stop by the Senior Center at 110 Sherman Street to make a reservation by November 1.

Morgan County Veteran's Day Pancake Breakfast November 9
The 2nd Annual Veteran's Day Pancake Breakfast will be held Saturday, November 9 from 8-9:30am at the Fort Morgan Middle School Cafeteria (enter through south cafeteria doors). Veterans eat free. Cost for adults is $5, kids 6 and under are $2. All proceeds benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.

Cheyenne VA Medical Center "Veterans Stand Down" October 24

The Cheyenne VA Medical Center will hold the community’s annual “Veterans Stand Down” on Thursday, October 24, at American Legion, Post 6 located at 2001 E. Lincolnway. Between 9:00am – 2:00pm Veterans who are homeless or at “at-risk” of becoming homeless are invited to the American Legion, Post 6 in Cheyenne to learn about information and services available.
Stand Downs are collaborative events between local VAs, other government entities, and community agencies who serve the homeless. According to Lisa Gossert, Social Worker and Cheyenne VA Homeless Programs Coordinator, “currently, the Comea Shelter in Cheyenne houses approximately 70 people who are homeless. Of that number, approximately 21% indicate they are Veterans.”
Each year the “Veterans Stand Down” provides information on a range of community and VA assistance including VA registration, VA’s Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) program, dental screening, women’s health services, substance use and other mental wellness counseling, VA Chaplains, community housing options, food, clothing, blankets and free barbering. These services will meet the immediate and long term needs of the homeless to help them live productive, meaningful lives.
In addition to information and services breakfast, lunch, flu shots, dental screenings, barbering, clothing and blankets will be immediately available.

Tribute To Morgan County Veterans November 10 at Fort Morgan Middle School

The Platte Valley Band and the Morgan County Chorale, in cooperation with VFW Post 2551, will perform a musical tribute to all Morgan County veterans of military service on Sunday, November 10 at 2pm at the Fort Morgan Middle School Auditorium. Everyone in the community is invited.
During the performance, a "Roll Call of Honor" for all veterans of World War II and the Korean War will be read, and they will be asked to stand and be recognized by the audience. A family member or friend may stand for anyone who is unable to attend, or has passed away within the last five years. The names of all veterans who send in their information will be included in the printed program for the event.
The goal is to recognize as many Morgan County veterans (past residents included) as possible. To achieve this, veterans are asked to provide the following information:

Veterans Day, a holiday dedicated to honor American veterans of all eras, falls on Sunday, Nov. 11, and will be observed by many on Monday, Nov. 12. This Friday celebration of Veterans Day will give vets and their families an early opportunity to mingle and reminisce.
Students from Trinity Lutheran School will perform at 1:30 p.m., followed by the Dancercizers line dancing to Glenn Miller tunes. Refreshments will be served following the entertainment.
